Liposuction is an ideal method for targeted treatment of problem areas. If you would like to get rid of stubborn excess fat on the abdomen, hips, thighs (saddlebags), upper arms, or other areas of the body, liposuction is an ideal treatment for you. However, liposuction is not a substitute for weight loss.
After liposuction, you must allow your body to recover. Dr. Hubmann recommends that you do not plan any major projects during the week after surgery. The best strategy is to stay home and rest. However, in most cases you can resume office work after just a few days. After liposuction, it is particularly important to wear a compression garment consistently for at least 4 weeks. This will promote tightening of the skin and healing of the deeper-lying tissue.
Liposuction can easily be combined with other procedures during the same operation. These may include procedures on the abdomen, the breasts, the buttocks, or other parts of the body. Please do not hesitate to discuss your goals with Dr. Hubmann during your consultation.
Some minor pain can occur in the days following the procedure. However, during your stay with us, Dr. Hubmann will manage your pain and prescribe appropriate pain medication for your recovery at home.
Even after liposuction, the human body continues to age and undergo changes that may affect the area that has been treated with liposuction. While liposuction permanently reduces the number of fat cells, consuming excess calories will enlarge the remaining fat cells, and you may gain weight generally and in the ares treated. However, with a balanced diet and regular exercise, you can help prevent these effects.
